Lip syncing is important in a music video because if you are mouthing out of time with the lyrics of the song then it looks terrible and unprofessional. It is important to lip sync in time; a man called Chobaz, who has worked with Nicki Minaj and Rihanna, says "during such performances, the singer's microphone is still on. On the parts they're not confident on or if the performance is physically demanding, the artist will sing quieter, and more of the performance track vocals can be heard." This is a quote based on live performances but it can still relate to music videos because if you have an active video it can be hard to lip sync and dance to the music at the same time. This is why lip syncing is important because you can produce a good music video (narrative) but if your timing is off then the whole thing will look unprofessional and your reputation will probably fall.
